Connie Clarke
Civil Engineering Technologist, C.F.A., Graphic Designer
Connie Clarke is a professional watercolour, acrylics and pastel artist from Edmonton, Alberta. She is well known for her vibrant garden scenes, her sensitive animal paintings and mystical landscapes. She loves depicting nature’s moods from stormy skies to windblown prairie landscapes to vibrant ocean sunsets. She is inspired by the comical antics of her pets and wants to awaken in our souls, a kindness and compassion for animals. In her work, Connie strives to enhance an awareness of the fragile connection between humankind and nature.
Connie’s work has been exhibited in many places including St. Albert Art Gallery, VASA, Muttart Conservatory and the Art Gallery of Alberta.
Connie attended University of Alberta, Extension where she graduated with a certificate of fine arts with distinction and CDI College, graduating with an honours diploma in graphic design.
She loves to attend workshops throughout Edmonton, but has also attended classes in St. Ives, Cornwall, England and Marche, Italy.
Connie’s studio was named Faerie Garden Studio to reflect the sense of magic her own gardens portray. A child who was visiting her garden said that it would be a good place for faeries to live. Her garden is decorated with her own stained glass art, glass mosaics and her original garden structure designs.
Her garden was chosen to be one of ten in the 2023 Annual Garden Tour hosted by Edmonton Horticultural Society.
Quite by “accident”, Connie has been commissioned to provide landscape designs for people in Edmonton.
Connie is currently writing and illustrating a book, to be revealed in early spring.
